Printing passport photos with Costco: what you need to know
Although Costco has discontinued its in-store passport photo service and Shutterfly no longer provides direct passport photo printing for Costco members, there is still a practical way to get your passport photos printed using Shutterfly.
Here’s how the process works:
- First, create a compliant passport photo using Xpassportphoto, and arrange it on a standard 4×6-inch photo layout. Save the file in JPEG format.
- Next, upload this 4×6 photo file to Shutterfly’s website. You’ll need to sign in or create a Shutterfly account to proceed.
- Place an order to print the image as a regular 4×6 photo and choose home delivery, since Costco locations no longer support in-store pickup for photo orders.
Additional tip: Shutterfly also offers flexible delivery options beyond home shipping. You can order photo prints online or through the Shutterfly app and select same-day pickup at partner stores such as CVS or Walgreens. In many locations, 4×6 prints are ready within an hour, making this a convenient alternative if you need your passport photos quickly.
